macOS will block the first launch — here's how to approve it

LocalBulkSMS isn't distributed through the Mac App Store, so Gatekeeper flags it on first launch. This is normal and only needs to be done once.

  1. 1
    Move to Applications & open

Drag LocalBulkSMS into your /Applications folder, then double-click it to launch.

  2. 2
macOS blocks it — click Done

A dialog says "Apple could not verify LocalBulkSMS is free of malware." Click Done. This is expected for apps outside the App Store — do not move it to Trash.

  3. 3
    Open Privacy & Security settings

Open the Apple menuSystem SettingsPrivacy & Security, then scroll down to the Security section.

  4. 4
    Click "Open Anyway"

You'll see: "LocalBulkSMS was blocked to protect your Mac." Click Open Anyway, then enter your Mac password or Touch ID when prompted.

  5. 5
    You're in — this is a one-time step

A final dialog confirms — click Open Anyway (or Open) once more. LocalBulkSMS will then launch normally every time after this.

First Launch Permissions on macOS:
  1. Launch the app. macOS will request Automation permission for Messages.app (click OK).
  2. (Optional) In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, enable LocalBulkSMS to browse your existing Messages history from inside the app.
